Voter Check List 2020

Election Day is November 3rd. Voting eligibility varies by state but you must be registered to vote. Check your voter registration status and make a plan to vote. Voter suppression is a real possibility, which is why if you are able, it is suggested you vote early and in person. Additionally, consider becoming a poll worker, as there is an extreme shortage due to COVID-19.

  1. Check on your deadlines.
Go to https://iwillvote.com/ and click on learn more about voting to look up your state’s requirements, add the dates to your calendar.

  2. Next, click on check if I am registered to vote to ensure your address and information is correct and up to date, especially if you have recently moved. If necessary, then click register to vote to start the process. Depending on the state you might be able to do it online or fill in a paper application to mail in.

  3. Decide how you are voting.

    1. If in person, check your polling place here https://www.vote.org/polling-place-locator/ look back to your deadlines and determine the day and place you will vote and add it to your calendar- either early voting or Election Day.

    2. If voting by mail visit https://iwillvote.com/ and click vote by mail. Make sure you follow the instructions to request and return, including signatures and witnesses if required. To check on your absentee ballot status after you mailed it, go to https://ballottrax.net/voter/ (this only works for certain states).

  4. Research your rights as a voter.
Visit the ACLU to read through them, and save the Election Protection Hotline number for yourself and others.
